Ask for:
- Operating hours at full load and part load
- Number of starts and load/unload cycles
- Logged discharge temperatures and oil pressures
- Alarm history and any fault codes
If the seller can't explain these numbers, that's a warning sign.
Step 3: Verify Model and Documentation Against GEA's Data

- Oil and filter changes at the recommended intervals
- Last overhaul date, scope, and who did it

- Who performed service: plant staff, OEM, or outside contractor
A unit with complete records may cost more upfront. That's okay. You're buying the record as much as the hardware.
Step 6: Check the Control System and Safety Functions
